Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest Returns To Pocono Raceway (#nascar)

Fans Needed To Participate


Nathan’s Famous returns to Pocono Raceway to hold a regional qualifying event for the annual Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest held on July 4 in Coney Island, N.Y.  Pocono Raceway fans are encouraged to sign-up to compete. One male and one female winner will earn a seat at Coney Island to challenge defending champions Matt Stonie and Miki Sudo.

The Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest Qualifier will be held Sunday, June 5 at 11 a.m. in Fan Fair 2 behind the grandstands on the Nathan’s Famous stage.

NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty will participate in a question-and-answer session at 11 a.m. and will then drop the green flag on the contest. Nathan’s Famous is a sponsor of the Richard Petty Motorsports No. 43 Ford Fusion driven by Aric Almirola.

The winner of the qualifier, one of 13 being held across the country, will gain entry to the annual finals at Coney Island in Brooklyn, N.Y., on July 4.

Two lucky Pocono Raceway fans, one male and one female, will be chosen to compete and represent ‘The Tricky Triangle’ in the contest. To register, fans can click here.



In recent years, an estimated 35,000 fans have made the pilgrimage to the corner of Surf and Stillwell Avenues in Coney Island to watch the Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog-Eating Contest in person. At the 2015 event, Matthew Stonie of San Jose, CA, claimed his first Nathan’s Famous Men’s Title by consuming 62 Hot Dogs and Buns in 10 minutes; Miki Sudo of Las Vegas, NV, won the Ladies’ Title with 38 Hot Dogs and Buns. Joey Chestnut of San Jose, CA, holds the world record for eating 69 Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs and Buns in 10 minutes.
